A first edition of this medieval legend taken from the 13th-14th century Italian poet Folgóre da San Gimignano (pseudonym of Giacomo di Michele). Retold by modernist/imagist poet Aldington (co-founder of the imagist movement with HD and Ezra Pound), set during the destruction of San Gemignano during WWII.
