Sir Arthur Blake (George Sanders) cheats his nephew, Benjamin Blake (Tyrone Power), out of his inheritance, due to doubts about the sanctity of Benjamin's conception and birth. Benjamin thus begins his journey to find his fortune and prove his right to his father's estate. He travels on a ship around the world, stopping first in Polynesia, where he finds love and a steady source of income. Thus established, Benjamin enlists the help of a lawyer and returns home to claim his inheritance.
