Three volume set (complete). Hardcover. Brown cloth with gilt spine title. Secure bindings with clean pages. Rubbed & bumped corner tips and spine ends to each. First Edition. About 9 x 6 with 741, 498 and 401 pp. Scarce!

 

Volume I with small corner chip to front endpaper.

 

Volume II has a faded spine (sun). Top corner tip page bump crease with some small dog-ears.

 

Reynolds Library, Rochester, New York copies, with original bookplates at front & rear endpaper. They were a part of the reference department and were numbered, and were not allowed to be taken from the library.

 

Andrew Johnson (1808-1875), the 17th U.S. president, assumed office after the assassination of Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865). Johnson, who served from 1865 to 1869, was the first American president to be impeached.
