Carroll D. Wright (1840-1909), was chief of the Massachusetts Bureau of Statistics of Labor from 1873 to 1878; the first U.S. Commissioner of Labor from 1885 to 1905; and chairman of the commission to investigate the Pullman strike in Chicago.


Hardcover. Burgundy cover with gilt spine title. Nice condition with a solid binding and a very light bottom corner tip page bump. Original (old) private library bookplate numbered 53 at front free endpaper, and a tiny pasted book marking with the same number at bottom spine. Illustrated plus color map endpapers. 8 x 5-1/2 with 362 pages.
