This volume begins with the birth and childhood of the young Charles, son of James Stuart and Anne of Denmark, and continues through Charles' increasing difficulty with Parliament and Scotland in the year 1638.Full calf leather binding with elaborate gilt to spine & gilt borders to front & rear cover. Marbled endpapers with gilt dentil and outer marbled edge. Nice overall condition with some mild rubbing & tiny tears to leather. Solid binding & nice clean pages (foxing at frontis & endpapers only).
