Misty of Chincoteague is a 1947 novel by American author Marguerite Henry, based on the true story of a Chincoteague Pony named Misty. Set on the coastal island of Chincoteague, Virginia, the book tells the story of the Beebe family and their efforts to raise a filly born to a wild horse. The book won the Newbery Honor.

 

Two children capture and tame a legendary wild pony in this classic tale. From the moment that Phantom and her foal, Misty, are brought to Chincoteague, Paul and Maureen overcome one obstacle after another to make these wild creatures their own.

 

Blue cover with yellow title and cover art. About 9-3/4 x 7 with 173 pages. Nice condition with light wear to the extremities and a Bambi bookplate at the inside  cover. Lovely inscription from grandma dated 1952 at the front endpaper (opposite the half title page). The jacket is in fair condition with several chips and tears. Black & white illustrations.
