Before Monica there was Margaret O'Neill (or O'Neale) Eaton (1799-1879), better known as Peggy. Noted for her beauty, wit and vivacity. This outcast turned Washington DC on its head. Starting with her controversial marriage to United States Senator John Henry Eaton, and her unusually outgoing manner, she played a central role in the Petticoat affair which disrupted the Cabinet of President Andrew Jackson during her husband's tenure as Secretary of War.
The rear cover is loose & present, with a secure text block, clean pages, and a small owner name on the half-title page. There is some light foxing to the cover, with light rubbing to the edges & few small tears/chips. FAIR CONDITION DUE TO REAR COVER DETACHED. About 7-1/4 x 4-3/4 with 494 pages. Rare softcover novel.
