Ulysses S. Grant was an American military officer and politician who served as the 18th president of the United States from 1869 to 1877. As commanding general, he led the Union Army to victory in the American Civil War in 1865 and thereafter briefly served as U.S. secretary of war.
 
Full leather with a black and red swatch on the spine with a gilt title, a small black swatch at the bottom of the spine with the owner's name in gilt, marbled endpapers, and marbled edges. This volume was owned by a very well-respected business owner in St. Helen's Oregon and there is a small ATTORNEY AT LAW sticker at the inside cover corner with his name. Lightly cracked at the inside joint gutter otherwise secure with clean pages and just mild foxing here and there to some top edge pages and at the frontispiece. About  9-1/4 x 6-1/4 with 584 pages. Includes some map drawings and a fold-out.
