BROMFIELD - GREEN BAY TREE
Louis Bromfield (1896-1956) was an American author and conservationist. In 1924, Bromfield published his first novel, The Green Bay Tree, which featured a headstrong, independent female protagonist — a feature that would recur in many of his later books. He won the Pulitzer Prize, founded the experimental Malabar Farm near
Mansfield, Ohio, and played an important role in the early environmental movement.
