Rankin Crow and the Oregon Country. By Rankin Crow as told to

Colleen Connaughy, Olp,

Illustrated with photographs, published by Rankin Crow, Ironside, Oregon, 1970.

The story of Rankin Crow is the story of Eastern Oregon and its people--from the early settlers to the 1969 Miss Rodeo Oregon. Rankin Crow's memory spans nearly seventy years of the section's growth, and much of that growth can be attributed to him, his relatives and numerous acquaintances.

In their early years, Rankin and his brother John worked with their father on the P Ranch, once owned by the famed Peter French. (David Crow made the well-known ride to Winnemucca, Nevada, to the telegram announcing French's murder). For the better part of the twentieth century, Rankin Crow has been a buckaroo, trail boss, ranch foreman, stockman, land developer and successful producer of rodeos.
