Rico: Bandit and Dictador. The reputed son of an exiled Austrian archduke, who became a bandit chief at sixteen and at twenty made himself absolute dictator of a Spanish-American country. Illustrations by Alfredo Ramos Martínez.
Fashions in heroes change like fashions in hats, and the ruthless strong man is fast returning to popular favor. Author Blanco, romantic but unsentimental Latin, has always admired the type. Son of an exiled Austrian archduke and an Indian woman, the author presents an idealized portrait of an imaginary dictator. Very scarce book.
