$12.95Price

RUNAWAY HOME. The Alice and Jerry Books, (Reading Foundation Series), By Elizabeth Coatsworth, Illustrated by Gustaf Tenggren, ROW, Peterson and Co., New York City, 1942.

A sixth-grade reader, part of the Alice and Jerry Basal reading series from the mid-1930s to the 1960s. The Harding family; Mom, Dad, Mark, Lucy, and Jim are having trouble making ends meet. A relative with an apple orchard in Washington state invites them to join him, so they sell their house, buy a trailer, and travel across the United States, and adventures ensue.

The "Alice and Jerry" books followed a sister and brother, Alice and Jerry, as well as their dog Jip, through a series of simple events in relatively plain settings. The "Alice and Jerry" series followed patterns similar to the Dick and Jane readers.

Very lightly bowed cover with a secure binding, lightly rubbed/soiled cover, and clean pages. Illustrated.
