Ida Dorothy Ottley Cottrell (1902-1957), better known as Dorothy Cottrell, was an Australian writer. Her first novel, The Singing Gold, was published in 1928. She lived for a time in the US and also worked as an artist and cartoonist.
 
Dorothy Cottrell writes of her life on the Australian plains. This is a courageous story of the contest between humans and nature.
