Poetry

Felicia Dorothea Hemans (1793 – 1835) was an English poet (who identified as Welsh by adoption). A voracious and early reader, Hemans made use of an extensive home library and was instructed by her mother in several languages. Hemans published her first collection, Poems (1808), at the age of 14.

Black leather blind-stamped book with all edges gilt. Nice stylized cover with a gilt spine title. Smaller chew rub mark near one spine top edge, and the outer gilding is all but rubbed away. Light to light moderate scattered foxing with some cover soil. Cute little poetry book. About 4-1/4 x 2-3/4. Two volumes in one. Undated circa 1850s. Scarce!
