First published 1841-1870 as the Manual of the Corporation of the City of New York, commonly known as Valentine's Manual, this is one of the New Series revived by editor Henry Collins Brown, published 1916-1928. Each book is full of vintage photos, prints, engravings, maps, & colored lithographs & contains fascinating statistics & vignettes about the city, its buildings, residences, & colorful local personalities. Offered here is the 1919-1920 book (No. 4), which contains a frontispiece + 73 illustrations.

 

Half dark calf with five raised bands at the spine, marbled boards, marbled endpapers and the top edge gilt. Black & white and color illustrated plus fold-outs. Secure binding with clean pages and light rubbed edges to the cover (very lightly sunned spine). About 7-3/4 x 5-1/2 with 463 pages including index. Scarce.
